Fifth-Year Graduate Student University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Dept. of Psychology University of Nebraska-Lincoln

Katherine W. Bogen, M.A. (she/her) is a 5th-year Ph.D. student in Clinical Psychology at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. She is affiliated with both the Violence Intervention for Survivors of Trauma and Abuse (VISTA) Lab (Dr. David DiLillo) as well as the Women, Immunity, and Sexual Health (WISH) Lab (Dr. Tierney Lorenz). Katie’s work highlights the intersections of sexual violence, posttraumatic stress, substance use, and intimate wellbeing, as well as processes of recovery. Katie is dedicated to conducting intersectionality-oriented, trauma-informed, and sex-positive research that empowers queer and other marginalized survivors of sexual harm. She hopes that her work will contribute to the development of evidence-based, culturally responsive interventions that help survivors reclaim their right to joyful, consensual, and fully-embodied intimate lives  She is currently funded by an F31 NRSA training grant via NIAAA, which examines posttraumatic stress and alcohol use as mechanisms linking sexual violence disclosure to intimate partner violence (IPV) risk among bisexual women. When she is not conducting research, Katie is a novelist, musical theatre performer, podcaster, proud cat mom, and social justice activist. She spends much of her time storytelling, community-building, and advocating for the safety of vulnerable communities.
