Graduate Mentoring
Dr. DiLillo is recruiting a graduate student to start in the 2026-2027 academic year.
Graduate School Application Toolkit
The Violence Intervention for Survivors of Trauma and Abuse (VISTA) Lab and the Objectification of Women Lab (OWL) have created a resource to support applicants navigating every step of the graduate school application process in Psychology, with a particular emphasis on PhD programs. Our goal is to shed light on aspects of the “hidden culture” of academia, reduce barriers to graduate school admission, and provide helpful guidance for individuals who are applying—or deciding whether or not to apply—to graduate programs in Psychology. Please feel free to share this resource widely and reach out with any questions or feedback. Click here to access the toolkit.
Undergraduate Research Opportunities
Undergraduate research assistants (RAs) are an integral and valued part of the Violence Intervention for Survivors of Trauma and Abuse (VISTA) research team. RAs attend regular team meetings, assist in project development, and participate in data collection, entry, and analysis. RAs are also strongly encouraged to contribute to posters or papers presented at regional and national conferences.
Undergraduate RAs may receive course credit for their work in the lab, through Psyc 299 or 499 (Independent Study in Psychology). The University's Undergraduate Creative Activities & Research Experiences Program (UCARE) also provides a way for selected undergraduates to earn a stipend and develop an independent research project while working in the lab. Those interested in joining the research team should contact Dr. DiLillo at ddilillo@unl.edu. We are looking for highly motivated, responsible, detail-oriented students. Psychology majors thinking of going on to graduate school in psychology are preferred, as are students willing to make a 2-semester commitment. No prior research experience is necessary. The position requires a commitment of 4 to 6 hours per week; hours are flexible.
